News: See post on the new speed limit on Veale Rd!

The Connecting with the Ardens Transportation Plan was adopted by each of the three villages in 2023, and provides a long-term planning blueprint to enhance safety and mobility through the Ardens. The plan’s goals include managing vehicular traffic speeds, providing enhanced pedestrian crossings, developing a pedestrian/bicycle network to traverse the Ardens, and enhancing transit and school bus stops. The plan embraces the unique context of the Ardens and aims to enhance the quality of life and safety of all users that are Connecting with the Ardens.

A Monitoring Committee for the plan meets monthly to guide next steps for plan implementation. It consists of representatives from the three villages, various public agencies—including The Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO), DelDOT, DART, New Castle County Department of Land Use—and the University of Delaware’s Institute for Public Administration’s Grant Assistance Program.
